Interpreting the collective bargaining agreement often involves applying imprecise or ambiguous language to unexpected or complex situations. As the Supreme Court has noted, the collective bargaining agreement is more than an ordinary contract; it is a "generalized code” to govern a variety of cases that its drafters did not and could not entirely anticipate. In this webinar, you will learn how labor arbitrators approach the task of interpreting the parties’ collective bargaining agreement to best determine the parties’ intent, including the interpretive tools that arbitrators apply (and when they apply them).
