Wolf Juergen von Kumberg
Wolf is a leading internationally recognized independent arbitrator and mediator, based out of London and Washington D.C.
Wolf has over 30 years’ experience in complex commercial disputes within international business with a particular focus on Aviation, Defense, Technology, Cyber, Engineering/Infrastructure, Energy, Oil & Gas and Investor State dispute resolution. Before establishing his ADR practice, he served as Legal Director and Assistant General Counsel to Northrop Grumman Corporation and prior to this at Litton Industries Inc. During his international career he was located in their Toronto, Zurich and London offices.
He is now a member of specialist International dispute resolution group, Arbitra International – based within the IDRC, with offices in London and Washington DC. Wolf is also the Managing Director of Global Resolution Services a provider of dispute resolution services and the Registrar General and CEO of the International Dispute Registry (IDR), which specializes in mediation capacity building programs for States.
He has extensive experience of disputes across Aviation & Aerospace, Defense, Investor/State, Compliance, IP, Cyber Security and High Tech Industries - This throughout, Asia, US, Europe and Middle-East which includes commercial, government and state entities. He is now active full time in international commercial and ISDS arbitration, mediation and dispute boards.
He has also been a keen proponent for the broader use of dispute boards by Industry and Government as a conflict avoidance tool and is instrumental in bringing mediation to Investor-State disputes through work with the ECT, IMI, CEDR and ICSID. Mr von Kumberg was the first Chair of the International Mediation Institute (IMI), which has advocated international standards for mediators. Wolf is also the former Chair of the CIArb Board of Management. He serves as a Director of CEDR in the UK and is former Director of the American Arbitration Association (AAA). In addition, he has been widely involved in arbitration, mediation and conflict avoidance board training for the CIArb, AAA-ICDR and CEDR.
