Robert L. Douglas holds a  B.S. degree from the New York State School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University; a J.D. degree from Hofstra Law School (where he served as Managing Editor of the Hofstra Law Review); and an LL.M. degree in labor law from NYU Law School.  He has worked for the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C. on the staff of several Board Members where he was active in the union that represented the lawyers who worked for the NLRB.  He also has worked for an employer association.  From 1982 to 1992, Bob served as Assistant Dean at Hofstra Law School, where he taught courses in labor arbitration, dispute settlement, labor law, employment law, and sports law.  He began arbitrating in 1980 on a part-time basis and became a full-time labor arbitrator and mediator in 1992.  He is a member of the National Academy of Arbitrators and a member of the New York State and District of Columbia bars.  He has a wide range of experience in the private and public sectors as an arbitrator and as a mediator.  He has published articles on issues concerning labor arbitration and labor law and frequently speaks about ethical issues that affect arbitrators.
