Pamela Jeffrey (Barnard College, B.A., 1984, SUNY School of Law at Buffalo, J.D., 1991), began her career in labor when she became a rank and file activist and then a staff organizer on District 65, UAW’s organizing drive at Columbia University that resulted in a ground breaking contract for university support staff. After working on various other organizing drives she went to law school with the specific goal of returning to the labor movement.

Since 1991 Jeffrey represents Levy Ratner’s labor clients in a variety of matters including collective bargaining, arbitrations, litigation and before the National Labor Relations Board. She works extensively on internal union matters, including internal union elections, constitutional amendments, mergers, and compliance with DOL regulations. She performs union trainings involving the duty of fair representation, internal union appeal boards, and compliance with DOL regulations and she has participated in panels on NLRB law governing representation rights, the duty to bargain and workplace surveillance issues in arbitration. She has also taken part in panels and authored papers on social media issues for the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee and the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law. Jeffrey serves as lead counsel in collective bargaining negotiations at major hospitals in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. area. She functions as primary legal point-person in dealing with the police regarding demonstrations and has, in addition to her extensive labor work, represented plaintiffs in employment discrimination cases, including a class action case against the NYPD, Latino Officers Ass’n, et. al, v. City of New York, et al., involving discrimination in the NYPD’s internal disciplinary system and hostile work environment claims. Jeffrey is a member of the ABA’s Section of Labor and Employment Law Committee on Practice and Procedure under the NLRA.
