Leigh provides both public and private sector employers of all shapes and sizes, and in a variety of industries, with advice and counsel on day-to-day employment- and labor-related issues. In addition to acting as a risk manager and ensuring clients' compliance with employment and labor laws, Leigh regularly defends employers against lawsuits and administrative charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and state civil rights agencies by current, former and prospective employees. In addition, Leigh assists employers with wage and hour audits and investigations conducted by the Department of Labor (DOL) and state agencies.
Leigh also routinely negotiates collective bargaining agreements, arbitrates labor grievances and defends employers in actions before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) and Michigan Employment Relations Commission (MERC). In addition, she has extensive experience counseling employers through labor organization campaigns, elections and strikes. Leigh's traditional labor experience spans the public and private sectors across multiple industries such as higher education, cities, counties, road commissions, police departments, fire departments, manufacturing, distribution, trucking, hospitality and health care.
