Hal Gray currently serves as a Managing Partner at Ragsdale, Beals, Seigler, Patterson & Gray, LLP and has thirty-plus years of experience litigating complex commercial/business disputes, real estate matters including ad valorem tax appeals and title claims, and environmental-related disputes.
Hal has served as a neutral arbitrator for over twenty-five years and during that time has served in over 200 cases. He regularly serves as a construction, real estate and commercial mediator, and is a member of the Mediation Panel as well as the Commercial, Construction/Real Estate/Environmental, and Large and Complex Case Panels of Arbitrators of the American Arbitration Association. He is also a member of the Arbitration and Mediation Panels of the International Center for Dispute Resolution, and the Roster of Distinguished Neutrals of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution serving on its Construction and Insurance Panels.
He is a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators and a Member of its Board of Directors and Judicial Education and Legislation Committees. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators, the Georgia Arbitrators' Forum, the Georgia Academy of Mediators and Arbitrators and the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals. Hal has been recognized as a "Georgia Super Lawyer" in both Construction Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution by Atlanta Magazine and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Construction Law. He is a registered mediator and arbitrator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution.
He belongs to the State Bar of Georgia and the Atlanta and American Bar Associations. He currently serves as the Chair and a Board Member of the Atlanta Bar Association's Construction Law Section and as Immediate Past Chair and a Board Member of the Atlanta Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Section. He is a Past Chair and a Member of the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Georgia Dispute Resolution Section. In 2011, Hal served as the Co-Chair of the Georgia State Bar's Fifth Annual Arbitration Institute and in 2012 served as the Co-Chair of the Bar's Nineteenth Annual ADR Institute and Neutrals' Conference in Atlanta.
A member of the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, having served on its Executive Committee from 1986 through 1993 and as its President from 1991 to 1992, Hal served as a Trustee of the Atlanta Lawyers Foundation from 1993 to 2001, and as Chairman of its Board of Trustees from 1994 to 1995.
Hal is the author of "Dispossessory and Distraint Procedure" and "Ejectment" chapters of Georgia Jurisprudence, published by Lawyers Co-op Publishing, and numerous published works on construction and alternative dispute resolution topics. He often lectures both legal and industry professional groups on construction law and ADR matters of interest.
