Barbara J. Collins
Attorney Barbara J. Collins is a solo practitioner in Hartford, Connecticut. A graduate of University of Connecticut and its Law School, and the NYS School of Industrial Relations at Cornell University, she has for over thirty-five years represented labor unions, individual employees and multi-employer pension and health & welfare trust funds in labor and employment matters.
Ms. Collins is a former President of the Connecticut Bar Association (2001 -2002) along with being a member and former Chair of the Labor and Employment Section and the CBA Human Rights Section. She is on the Executive Board of the CBA Workers' Compensation Section. In addition, she is the president of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (Central Connecticut Chapter), a joint labor and management organization which sponsors approximately five lectures a year on topics of interest to labor and management, and a member of the Connecticut Employment Lawyers Association.
From 2000 until 2011 she was an arbitrator for the State of Connecticut Board of Mediation and Arbitration representing the interests of labor. On July 1, 2011 she was appointed by Governor Malloy and approved by the Connecticut General Assembly to sit as a neutral on the Connecticut State Board of Labor Relations. She remains in that position.
