Angel Cox is a Senior Attorney with the Teacher Performance Unit in the Office of the General Counsel of the New York City Department of Education. Angel represents the Department in disciplinary cases involving charges of employee incompetence and misconduct pursuant to Education Law Section 3020-a. Angel also advises school administrators on a variety of topics, including best practices in conducting investigations and documenting employee discipline. Prior to joining the New York City Department of Education, Angel spent seven years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where she tried a variety of felony cases to verdict.
Angel is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park (2005) and St. John’s University School of Law (2008), where she was a recipient of the Ronald H. Brown scholarship. She is actively involved in the New York State Bar Association and is currently a Fellow with the Labor and Employment Section.
