Al Parker is a seasoned attorney and business executive with more than 25 years of broad domestic and international experience. Over the course of his career Al has served in prominent leadership positions as in-house counsel to major corporations, and as an attorney in private practice with top-tier law firms. His experience includes serving as the general counsel and chief legal officer for pharmaceutical and life science companies, and representing clients across multiple industries as a partner at a national law firm.
Al has a proven ability to lead in highly competitive environments ranging from large publicly traded multinational companies to privately held start-ups. He has a strong track record of anticipating and finding pragmatic solutions to strategic and operational challenges, and of bringing increased effectiveness to in-house legal groups. Al also has substantial hands-on, first-chair experience across a wide range of commercial, regulatory, litigation, transactional, and compliance matters, and in managing legal staffs/budgets, supervising outside counsel, and advising corporate boards and executive management teams.
Al is active in the community and has served on several non-profit boards including the American Arbitration Association, the Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Leadership Philadelphia, Legacy Youth Tennis & Education, and the Philadelphia Diversity Law Group. He is a frequently sought speaker at industry and professional events, including programs organized by the Harvard Law School Center on the Legal Profession, the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business (former lecturer), the American Bar Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and the American Conferences Institute.
