Arbitral immunity refers to the immunity that is extended to arbitrators for acts arising from and within the scope of their arbitral functions. The arbitrator’s role in a matter is to adjudicate disputes, and is often referred to as acting in ”quasi-judicial capacity”.  As a result, arbitrators are often granted immunity similar to the “judicial immunity” that is granted to judges.   This 60-minute recorded presentation explores the following questions about arbitral immunity:
- What is it?
- What is its origin?
- How do arbitrators obtain it?
- Challenges to arbitral immunity? And more…
In addition to answering the above questions, this webinar examines serious, and sometimes entertaining, court decisions that sharply define the subject.
